Creating a Baseball Fantasy League

Creating a Baseball Fantasy League

The last decade has seen many changes, one of them being the
amazing involvement of individuals in baseball fantasy leagues
as well as other fantasy sports. There are no specific rules for
baseball fantasy involvement; however an unspoken rule for you
to be successful at baseball fantasy games is for you to have a
real appreciation and interest in real baseball. These simple
steps will help you start a baseball fantasy league that you
will really enjoy playing with the whole season.

Baseball Fantasy Step #1 Calling all Teams The first baseball
fantasy step to creating a league is getting your teams
together. This basically means you need to get 8-12 friends
together to create teams. Remember, if you have less than 8
teams or more than 12 your season will not be as enjoyable. The
suggested 8-12 baseball fantasy teams mean you will be able to
have a competitive season.

Baseball Fantasy Step #2 Elections Every baseball fantasy league
needs a commissioner, or someone who is in charge. This person
will be responsible for compiling each team’s statistics on a
weekly basis and distributing them to all of the players. Be
sure you elect a commissioner who is responsible and takes the
position seriously.

Baseball Fantasy Step #3 One League or Two This can be a tough
decision, but it must be made. This is the decision of whether
or not to use only one league or both the American and National
Leagues.

Baseball Fantasy Step #4 The Draft Acquiring players can be done
in many different ways, and the best way for your baseball
fantasy league to do this is what works best for all teams.
Sometimes a draft works, other times an auction, decide what
works best and then stick with it.

Baseball Fantasy Step #5 Rules Each league has rules so far as
statistics and how points are accumulated. Whatever rules apply
to your league make sure all teams are aware and follow the
rules.

Baseball Fantasy Step #6 Have Fun Remember to have fun and enjoy
your baseball fantasy league. This has been going on for years
and millions of Americans really enjoy this activity. Some play
for money, some play for trophies, and others simply play to
win. Whatever you choose to play for, make sure all teams are in
favor.

running a keeper league is alot of work & if you are new at fantasy baseball i'd make sure you have what it takes to stay active all season. fantasy baseball is more work than fantasy football, basketball & hockey.

there are seveal ways to run a keeper league in any sport, here is how i do it, so that all owners have access to the information all season / off season.

start a league, invite your friends / people you know will stay active. draft the league & play the season out.

after the season starts, start a free group on yahoo & invite all the members of your league. they will need to be there.
    http://groups.yahoo.com/start

at the end of the season copy each team's final roster & paste them in the FILES section. make a seperate file for each year, final results & draft order for the next season.

use the MESSAGE BOARD to keep in contact in the off season, post your keepers (you will need to make a file for keepers as well), make off season trades & you can even draft the 2nd season on the message board.

use the POLLS section to vote on rule changes or off season trades.

future DRAFTS, you can draft on the message board in your group, do a LIVE draft but the 1st 6 (or however many keepers you have) rounds must be your keepers. i've done it both ways but recently we are drafting in the league. i put all the keepers on each team, set the season to ready & set waivers to 0 days. when it's your pick, grab the guy you want off the waiver wire & then the next guy will follow. we are using a 24 hour clock, you have 24 hours to make a pick, then you e-mail or call the next guy.

Try the Yahoo (or ESPN if they have them) message boards.

    Good luck.

If you're doing a points-based league, there is no way to have avg as a category. In a points-based league, each stat is worth a certain amount of points. (i.e. steals = 3, HR = 2, Win = 5)

You would have to use hits.

hm i couldn’t tell the difference between photograph and painting comparing the final resault.

    This is sick

  9. DC says:

You can call the league "One-Oh-Eight" or "Ten-8" or "Stitches" because there are 108 Stitches in a baseball.

    :-)
