How do I practice hitting and fielding in baseball if I have nobody to work with?
I haven't played baseball in 4 years and I am thinking about trying out for my high school team. None of my friends believe I want to tryout because I haven't played in so long and because I play soccer and run indoor track so they think I'm running spring track too. Any suggestions on how to practice and I don't have money to go to batting cages.

    To throw faster, hit further, and run faster do core exercises like crunches, sit ups, and bicycles and do a LOT of running to strengthen your legs. I used to run about 3 miles a day and it really helped me increase my overall ability. You get a lot of your power from your legs and core. This will help not only your speed but your stamina, batting ability (hips and legs are where you get your power) and your throwing ability (builds lean muscle) .

    Also to build arm strength play long toss and throw a football.

    One of my favorite hitting drills i did was, I got golf ball sized whiffle balls and had some one pitch them to me. I used a doll rod about an inch wide and 34 inches long to hit with instead of a bat, this really helped my hand eye coordination, but while doing this be sure to use your fundamentally correct swing or it will be wasted.

    Start throwing now. Get your arm ready. Hit. Take as much soft toss as you can. Run some foul polls too. Start at one pole go to the other and then back. Do that 20 times.

    if he is in shape, then he is in shape.. keep lifting to get stronger, and keep running to get even more fit.. the hardest part about this is the mental part.. if he struggles at first its very important to stay calm and work on the things hes lacking in.. dont let the pressure bother him.. he has to be ready mentally..

    In theory yes, but, the tubes are designed to have specific resistance so you can build up…not pull your arm out…the one they sell with a ball attached is great…especially when it is raining and you can't go out and throw!

    well, one thing with weight training is that you have to do certain exercises that help you as a BASEBALL player. do lots of compound exercises. your core and legs are the most important

    A tee is the best tool a baseball player can have. There are so many different things you can do with hit. Practice the mechanics of your swing. work on hitting inside/outside pitches.
    A paddle for an infielder is a great tool as well. You can make one yourself out of wood.. or buy one at a sporting goods store.. Wilson makes a good one. This will allow you to work on having soft hands and seeing the ball all the way into your body.
    You dont always have to be fancy though. Some guys think in order to throw harder they should buy a weighted ball. The best way to strengthen your arm is to go out and play long toss 4 times a week.
